An eye-opening account of one man's struggle to stay off the streets

Although obviously the novelty of busking and selling the Big Issue with a cat and the role which Bob played in turning around James Bowen's life are a major attraction, there is much more to this book. It really makes you think about the dangers of living and working on the street and appreciate how precarious the journey to an address and work is. Selling the Big Issue is a like running your own business - if you are sick, you don't get paid - added to which, if the weather is bad, you have to chose between working in the cold/ snow / driving rain (quite possibly without being able to wrap up in extra layers). James' love for his cat - and Bob's unconditional love for the man who nursed him back to health - really shine through the feline adventures and mishaps, which, although openly ghost-written, read as if James himself were the author. I like his honesty about the times when he was in danger of losing what he gained and his willingness to admit to behaviour which he now regrets. I am delighted to see how many books for adults and children James (and Bob) are responsible for - and hope that this success will allow James to go from strength to strength - with Bob at his side for many years to come.

Cat rescues man

I haven't read the first book but this short biography/ autobiography of James (man) and Bob (cat) is an entertaining and in places moving read. Unfortunately we only have James' version of events - I suspect Bob's view would reveal points a human misses but James does the best he can to describe the cat's eye view from the outside. Anyone who has had a close relationship with a cat will sympathise and at times identify with both protagonists. In general the villains in this book are people who are petty and self important or desperate and the heroes those who view the world with open eyes and kindness. Bob is of course brilliant!

A Good Book for Cat Lovers

I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. It's very well written and a great sequel to A Street Cat Named Bob. I loved it
