Wow! Just wow!

A friend recommended this book (thank you Sarah!) and I've been spellbound with the story from the start. A sci-fi Canterbury Tales so vividly described. And in Brawne Lamia's tale about sentient AI's and walls of ICE, a character called Gibson - that can only be a nod to William Gibson and his world of Neuromancer, one of my favourite authors. Ordering the next book now!

Still one of the best books ever

The Fall of Hyperion, or indeed the entire four books series, is probably the best sci-fi ever written. I cannot praise it enough. The stories, the people, the detail are all awe-inspiring. Thank you Dan Simmons for sharing Hyperion with us!

Sci-fi take on Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales'

Overall a well-written book, putting a spin on a literary classic. Some of the characters' tales were more absorbing than others but that is to be expected as we see ourselves in, and click with, individuals in the book (the curse of multiple character plot lines), but the frame story held me to the end and has successfully prompted me to buy the next in the series.
