A fantastic read

I always enjoy RNP, and this is a cracking legal thriller, much of the action taking place in a courtroom. Although, as it is a military court martial rather than conventional trial, some legal aspects vary from the norm but this is all carefully explained.An excellent story, with a good twist - the repercussions of which aren't resolved until the very end. It reminded me a bit of 'A Few Good Men' and, like that play, would make an excellent film.

Richard North Patterson does it again - another page turner. This time he has set his focus on the attitude of the army to returning soldiers from Iraq. Post traumatic stress syndrome is a well established fact, yet it appears from this book that it is still considered in the US to be detrimental to one's career to admit to suffering from it. The family tangles take most of the book to unravel - yet another disfunctional, convoluted family pattern. A well researched book, relying heavily on the author's legal background.

What has happened to Richard North Patterson?

Another dreary read from Richard North Patterson. Really what has happened to this man? From a series of exciting 'page turners' his recent output has been dull and turgid. All the heroes are carbon copies of his previous characters and the love interests indistinguishable. The only new twist in recent times was making the love interest in 'The Eclipse' black.I found the first half of the book very hard going and nearly gave up on it a couple of times but it did improve once the action shifted to the court room.As is so often said, if you are a fan you will read this anyway, if not buy one of his earlier books when he was on form.
